SageTV v6.4.2 is now boasting support for the Hauppauge HD PVR, automatic STVI Generation in the SageTV Studio, EXIF metadata/thumbnail support for JPEGs, new file system and network browser, playback support for YouTube’s H.264 videos, high definition photo display via SageTV’s HD Media Extender, and improved Placeshifter file transfer capabilities. This news will probably excite those living in the UK more than anybody else, but Martin Millmore (aka MilliSoft) has just announced the availability of his new BBC iPlayer VMC Add-In that’s essentially a hack that scrapes the iPlayer website to grab data and transform it into something that media center can use for navigation and playback. Martin notes that the same procedure was recently used for the PS3 after BBC recently enabled the iPlayer for the Wii. [via]

According to the release notes for version 0.5.0b1, XMBC on OS X has added support for Apple Remote, Universal Remotes, the Xbox 360 Controller and has included new features like display “sleep” mode and SSA subtitles.
